What is Core Belief Engineering?

Core Belief Engineering (CBE) is an effective psychotherapy that searches out and changes consciously and subconsciously held core beliefs that result in unhealthy and undesirable behaviours. A CBE practitioner guides individuals through a gentle, questioning process to restructure new beliefs that lead to an increased ability to make conscious choices. The results are thorough and long lasting. CBE is successful with many symptoms and problems.

The Core Belief Engineering approach is based on the observation that the subconscious mind is a multitude of "parts", each one containing a unique aspect of the whole personality with its own function and belief system.

We look at beliefs in particular because CBE holds as its premise that your reality is a result of your beliefs. For example, one part may be responsible for preventing you from feeling confident. The part might believe that to have confidence is to be egotistical therefore that part will not allow you to feel proud of your accomplishments. The result is you feel like you never move forward with your life and pursue interests or goals.

Core Belief will assist you to search out unwanted beliefs and update to them to reflect and support the life you would like to live.

"No Matter what I do - I can't seem to change"

A part can develop at anytime although major beliefs may be in place by the time we are five or six years old. As a young child we are trying to survive and make sense of a world which is not always logical. To do this we often take on the beliefs of our family and our culture; while we have developed our beliefs from our own experiences there is a great percentage that has been inherited.

Problems can occur when childhood beliefs held in the subconscious remain and do not develop and mature as the person learns. This can lead to conflict when our outdated parts' beliefs are in opposition to our present beliefs. The result is internal conflict, repetitive patterns, stress and a feeling of being stuck.

Many have tried to change reactions or behaviour through analysis, problem labeling, self help books or affirmations but find there is little long lasting success because the beliefs that lie underneath the thought or action have not been changed.
